013: Erin Alley: Rising to Leadership in Architecture through Inquiry, Inclusivity, and Innovation
On today’s episode of Architectette I am delighted to welcome Erin Alley. Erin is an Associate Principal Partner at RMW and is based in their San Francisco Office. Erin and I worked together on several projects during my tenure at RMW and I was so happy to interview her so listeners can learn more about her career journey and experiences. Erin is an outstanding project manager, studio leader, and mentor.
We talk about:
Erin’s start in architecture and how she ended up working on the client side of the industry at Gap.
Work-life balance, motherhood, career coaches, and the importance of getting licensed.
Erin’s leadership at Gensler and later, RMW. She shares tips for supporting clients, connecting with colleagues, and maintaining a healthy, engaging work environment.
Erin’s backyard Accessible Dwelling Unit (ADU) which her family designed for her dad.
Erin’s hopes for the future and how she is working at RMW to embrace emerging design technologies and increase diversity in the profession.
